Dog Bite Prevention
Since we specialze in all kinds of behavior problems here at K-9 Concepts, we get quite a few calls from people who have problems with their dogs and aggression.  The lucky dogs have owners who recognize they have a problem and are willing to do something about it.  They unlucky ones have owners who excuse the behavior or deny that it is a problem.

Statistics prove that dog bites are a serious problem.  In 1999 4.7 million dog bites were reported, according to the Humane Society of the United States.   One-third of claims against homeowners came from dog bites to the tune of $310 million per year.  Some insurance companies blacklist specific breeds they deem "dangerous" making it difficult for some dog owners to get insurance.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimate at least half of kids 12 and younger have been bitten by a dog.  Stray or loose dogs aren't the only ones doing the biting.  Most dogs who bite (77%) belong to family or friends of the victim.  That is why training the family is as important as training the dog.
